Tunji Sarumi Photography bio picture

Welcome

My name is Tunji. I’ve been a photographer ever since I picked up my first digital camera and my wife, Aby, is the pioneer. This blog is my photography journal where I document my experiences as a wedding photographer. It also inspires and motivates my day to day activities.

My style of shooting is geared towards story-telling and capturing the rich moment in time. I create images that can rekindle memories from life-time events. I studied engineering and my wife studied accounting. We live our life according to God’s directions and guidance.

I will document each step in our blog as we grow to one of the best wedding photographer in the world. By the way, Tunji Sarumi is pronounced TUN-GEE SAR-RU-ME. To see our portfolio please visit us at http://www.tunjisarumi.com

Shola and Olumide couple session

Shola and Olumide is one of my favorite couple. From our very first conversation on the phone up till a couple of days ago, I just keep getting amazed how lovely and friendly they are.

The couple wanted an intimate couple session so we decided to shoot around Maryland and in DC. My lovely Abi and I assisted and carried each other throughout the shoot.  We ended up spending most of the session time at the National Arboretum in DC which was perfect for their personality.

Even though we didn’t have much time shooting in DC but we had so much fun and the time spent with these two was Golden. I’m really looking forward to their wedding in December

Here are a few of my favorite images.

I love the chemistry between the couple.

After shooting in Bowie, MD, for the second session we drove to the National Arboretum in DC for some more cool pictures.

One of my ‘top’ favorites.

Another thing I love about Shola and Olumide is the way they look at each and make each other smile!

We strolled down the beautiful park (almost dark) to capture the autumn essence.

We got kicked out of the park after taking this picture because the park closes at 5p. lol….

See me at work on The Style Network

Last July, I shot a special wedding with Michael Clark Photographers and the production crew of “Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?” (My Style Network) The network show titled, Weight Loss and Wedding Bells & What’s Old is New Again, will be aired tomorrow Tuesday November 18 at 6am and 10pm EST.  Its about a Baltimore couple planning a modern wedding with a vintage feel.

I think you’ll see a glimpse of me at work, maybe a second or two of TV fame, and possibly edited out.  It will be difficult to spot me,  I was wearing a black shirt.  Watch it real time and let me know what you think.

One of North America’s top wedding planners, Linnyette Richardson-Hall of Premiere Event Management, coordinated this wedding.

Esther & Matt Wedding

Last Month I shot a wedding at a beautiful and private residence in Dayton,  MD. Esther and Matt found us online while searching for  wedding photographers in Maryland. After the initial contact, Abi met with Matt (groom) to go over their wedding photography details.

The day was beautiful with nice weather, great location, and their wedding was flled with fabulous guest.  Below are few of my favorite images from the wedding.

The bridesmaids carried bouquets of light pink roses and the bride carried lush, textured yellow/ivory roses with freesias on the sides

Matt wore a beautiful and matching ivory flower on his lapel joined with a silk necktie.

Esther + Matt after signing the “ketubah” and before they exchange there nuptials.

There was a wooden walk bridge between the altar and the guest.

Esther and Matt married in an outdoor ceremony under a traditional chuppah made with dried corn plant.

After breaking the glass under the chuppah the couple was escorted to a private room and left alone.

The wedding was lavished with a four-tiered pink cake decorated with thick brown ribbon.  Fresh pink orchids beautify the cake. Pink lanterns, pink-brown center arrangements and flowers filled the reception tent.

Couple’s first dance.

One of my “major” favorites.  The little boy lodged between his father (left) and Matt.

I had so much fun at the wedding.

Upside down.  The little boy among the men.

I captured this moment on my way out of the reception festivity.

iPhone Test

For days I’ve been trying to blog through my iPhone. Today I finally figured all the bells, I mean how to blog using one of the best mobile phones in the world. Is that really true?
Anyway, once or twice a week I visit my local Barnes & Noble store to browse through wedding magazines. This is to keep me current to what’s going on in the wedding industry and new wedding styles. 2009 is coming steadily and Photographers are coming up with new ideas on how to photograph weddings creatively.

Back to the test. Below are a couple of my favorite wedding magazines.

Laura and Roger Wedding

From the first time my wife and I met Laura and Roger, we could see the great chemistry between them.  I had so much fun shooting their wedding plus they had the most exciting guests. View their engagement session HERE

The wedding ceremony was at The United Methodist Church in Catonsville, MD and the Admiral Fells Inn was the perfect setting for their October wedding .

Thanks to Melanie, the wedding day planner, who made sure everything went smoothly.  And the fabulous DJ that kept the reception rocking.

Below are a few of my favorite images from the wedding.

One of the guest took a picture of me dancing with the bride.
